Networking Solutions for the State of Arkansas

Hughes can provide the State of Arkansas Hughes Access Continuity and Broadband Internet services via its SPACEWAY® 3 satellite system. The contract is designed to improve network resiliency, emergency communications preparedness, and enable cost-effective primary connectivity for remotely located employees.
Under the terms of the contract (SP-09-0336), state entities will be able to obtain the following capabilities from Hughes through its SPACEWAY 3 satellite system:
- Back-up Internet, voice, data, and video services for primary networks
- Back-up Internet, voice, data, and video services for transportable networks including the State Network Disaster Recovery Trailer and service connecting the Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN) Sites-on-Wheels with a SmartZone switch at the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management
- Back-up voice connectivity for AWIN’s 700/800 Mhz trunked Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system, enabling communications interoperability with first responders.
- Primary connectivity for employees in remote locations, where it is difficult or cost prohibitive to obtain network connectivity
